President Jonathan Announces Bamanga Tukur’s Resignation As PDP chairman

President Goodluck Jonathan finally presented the resignation letter of embattled party chieftain, Bamanga Tukur, to the 63rd meeting of the National Executive Committee of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's secretariat in Abuja today.

The president took the unusual step of reading Mr. Tukur's resignation letter to members after pulling it out of an envelope.

He praised Tukur, who was also present at the meeting, and said that he had not committed any crime to warrant his forced resignation promising to give him a bigger assignment.

Saharareporters sources stated that the President hopes to make  Mr. Tukur Nigeria’s ambassador to China in coming days.

Saharareporters had revealed last night that Mr. Tukur's resignation will be made public today at the NEC meeting after he was barred from a crucial caucus meeting at the Aso Rock Villa yesterday.

A new chairman of the party will emerge next week Monday according to President Jonathan.

The superstar has opened up on feeling "stifled" as a child star with Destiny's Child and said she feels more able to 'express herself' after hitting her 30s.

And the mum-of-one has revealed she's tapped into her own "life experiences" for her new platinum album Beyoncé and has shown sides of herself that only a few people have ever seen.

In the latest instalment of her documentary 'Self-Titled' the star describes a scene from her latest music video in which she parades in racy underwear.

She said: "What I love about this song is it takes you through this journey.

"You know, you're flirting, you're talking all of your arrogant s**t and then you climax and then you have your cigarette."




The sexy songstress, who recently sparked outrage by posing in front of Jesus in a Last Supper Instagram shot, laughed shyly as she described the inspiration behind the scenes and said she finally feels the freedom to express herself after years of worrying about others.

The lad, her second child with partner Kevin Briggs, weighed in at 7lbs, 10oz.

A family friend told The Sun: "David is delighted."

The birth has fuelled speculation that Becks, 38, and wife Victoria, 39, might try for a fifth child.

"She (Victoria) and Lynne have got broody at similar times," the friend said.

"Her pregnancy got Vic thinking.

"She and David haven't ruled out another nipper."

FG Denies Plans To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources said on Thursday the government does not plan to increase the pump price of petrol, which is currently N97 per liter. In a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Danladi Kifasi, the Ministry described such fears were unfounded. “We would like to appeal to Oil Marketers to refrain from hoarding of petroleum products and the general public from panic buying in anticipation of any increase in pump price. It is equally important to state that neither the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources nor any of its parastatal is under any instruction to activate a new pump price regime as being speculated,” he said.    The Permanent Secretary further warned petroleum product marketers to desist from creating any scarcity so as to induce panic in the system in order to exploit unsuspecting members of the public. He also warned that the relevant agencies of the government, including the Department of Petroleum Resources and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, have been directed to deal with offenders.    Mr. Kifasi assured that the NNPC and its downstream flagship company, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company have made enough arrangements to ensure that the entire nation has petroleum products throughout 2014 as it has done in the last three years.

TEXT OF A NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE NATION FROM PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN Dear Compatriots, I greet and felicitate with you all as we enter the year 2014 which promises to be a momentous one for our country for several reasons, including the fact that it is also the year of our great nation’s centenary celebrations. I join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for guiding us and our beloved nation safely through all the challenges of the outgoing year to the beginning of 2014. Exactly 100 years ago today, on January 1, 1914, the British Colonial authorities amalgamated what was then the separate Protectorates of Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria, giving birth to the single geopolitical entity known as Nigeria. For us therefore, today is not just the beginning of a new year, but the end of a century of national existence and the beginning of another. It is a moment for sober reflection and for pride in all that is great about Nigeria. Whatever challenges we may have faced, whatever storms we may have confronted and survived, Nigeria remains a truly blessed country, a country of gifted men and women who continue to distinguish themselves in all spheres of life, a country whose diversity remains a source of strength. We pay tribute today, as always to our founding fathers and mothers, and all the heroes and heroines whose toil and sweat over the century made this country what it is today. As I noted, a few days ago, the amalgamation of 1914 was certainly not a mistake but a blessing. As we celebrate 100 years of nationhood, we must resolve to continue to work together as one, united people, to make our country even greater.
